This Cocktail Conversation will be an overview of the major provisions of the Cares Act.
Valerie is an alumna of Tulane University, the University of Oregon Law School (Go Ducks), and University of Washington where she received her LLM in taxation. She has worked in big 4 accounting and with the Portland office of a large regional law firm, although maintains that she learned most of what she knows about working with clients when she was as an optician helping people pick eyeglass frames in her dad’s clinic while she was in high school. She teaches partnership tax in the Portland State University Masters of Tax Program. Valerie is a past chair of the Taxation Section and also serves as immediate past Chair of the business law section. She is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and leads Samuels Yoelin Kantor, LLP’s tax practice. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys travelling to places that freak her family out, reading as much as possible, and spoiling her two small Chihuahua-mix dogs. Her dream is to win the lottery and start a company that administers pet trusts so she can spend all day playing with animals who don’t complain about their bills.
